The intent is to provide effective, goal-oriented interaction between a user and a software application or website. Translated to users' everyday experience, William considers: Is the website intuitive for the user? Is information structured in a manner that makes it easy for the user to quickly find what he or she needs? Is it easy to find products on an e-commerce site? How many clicks does it take to complete a transaction? Do users have clear indicators of their location in a site at all times? Are such features as personalization and customization truly helpful? Is a site's content just "sitting there," or is it structured to actively drive users toward an end goal? If a company claims "efficiency," "speed" or "trust" as a brand attribute, is its Website supporting that in practice? It is the job of the information architect to ensure success in all these areas.
